Based on Dynamic Capabilities Theory, it assumes that digital capabilities and culture are critical for the e-commerce enactment and sustainable growth of the SMEs. The study developed five propositions for further qualitative and empirical studies. Thus, while this paper forms a theoretically sound approach of such relationships by means of secondary data research, first, the actual empirical assessment could be attempted. Despite its limitations in Dynamic Capabilities Theory and the use of secondary data, it is important for SMEs to understand the demands of the digital economy and embrace digital strategies. Ideas for future research are sectoral research, primary data collection, and future investigations of the way how advance digitalization – including the sphere of digital culture, capability, and e-commerce causes the development of SME.
